DMS Offshore Investment Services wins Best Offshore Advisory Firm Award

DMS Offshore Investment Services (DMS) has won the 2014 Best Offshore Advisory Firm Award from the influential international hedge funds magazine, Hedgeweek.

DMS is the world’s largest fund governance firm. It was selected through a poll of the magazine’s readers and the firm had no part in soliciting the award. More than 2,600 people voted, mainly hedge fund investors, managers and their advisers.

The award caps another successful year for DMS in which the firm realized a 54% increase in assets under management of its client funds from the prior year – which jumped from USD 214 billion to USD330 billion.

DMS Founder Don Seymour said: “We have been working hard to keep our client funds advised on the big regulatory challenges of the impending Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA), which takes effect on July 1, 2014 and the Alternative Investment Fund Management Directive (AIFMD), which impacts investors in the European market. Our directors are focused on giving advice and providing solutions that help our client funds to succeed and we are proud of our efforts in this regard”.

In addition to its headquarters in the Cayman Islands, DMS has offices in New York, London, Dublin, Hong Kong, Luxembourg and Sao Paulo.

Cayman Government backs Reinsurance Industry

Representatives from the Cayman Islands reinsurance industry will be in full force at the SIFMA Insurance and Risk Linked Securities conference in New York on March 4-5, speaking to delegates about the strength of the Cayman offering for reinsurance and catastrophe bonds.

The Cayman delegation will talk about lots of aspects as the Cayman Islands is the provider of the very first catastrophe bonds and takes the leading position in this sector, as evidenced by the more than 200 transactions listed with the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange.

The Cayman Islands published a new insurance law last year that provides a special category of licence designed for insurance linked securities and the jurisdiction is also home to a growing number of innovative insurers and reinsurers.

The delegation includes senior representatives from the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority (CIMA) and the Cayman Islands Stock Exchange.
